Here at T. O'Connor (Security Services) Ltd, we now offer to our customers a full overhaul and reconditioning service.
The service begins (where needed) with us collecting your safe, upon which it will be brought back to our service centre.
Once here, one of our engineers will strip down and service the boltwork and locking devices. Where necessary, unservicable parts will be replaced.
If at this stage - or at the collection point if we transport the safe - our engineer deems the safe unserviceable, the customer will be informed and advised on a replacement.
The next stage of the overhaul is cosmetic. The safe is sanded down - to the metal where necessary - dents are filled, sanded and filled again. When the body is right, it is undercoated and finally, it is given two top coats.
Our standard colours are two shades of grey. A light grey on the body and a lighter grey (almost white) on the door.
Alternatively, we can paint a colour of your choosing.
Once the safe is fully refubished, we will arrange a convenient time to re-site the safe at the customers premises.
This sevice that we now offer all our customers, is one T. O'Connor's has built a reputation on over many years.
Previous to now, we only did this for our major customers which include all the big high street banks.
T. O'Connor's has been supplying refurbished safes to the leading banks for over thirty seven years.
We have even supplied refurbished units back to the manufacturers who originally built them, such is our standing in this field.
Below you can see a before and after scenario. This particular safe, a Tann Bankers quality, came to us needing some cosmetic work and an overhaul of the locking system. For security reasons, we do not show the exposed locking and re-locking devices.
After the refurbishments were finished, the safe had been reformed to its former glory and is now once again serving the purpose for which it was built.
This is the finished article.
You will see that the door handle has been replaced. The bolt throwing handle has also been replaced and the lock covers or escutcheons have been renewed. The rust that was beginning to appear on the body, was sanded back to the metal and treated. This was then filled, resanded, filled again and a final sanding to leave the body smooth and abrasion free. The door hinge lugs received the same treatment, the pictures show an amount of damage to the top one in particular. But now after the refurbishment, they look in a new condition.
The locks were dismantled and where necessary, worn parts were replaced. Duplicate keys were then cut, all our refurbished safes are supplied with keys in duplicate, extra keys supplied on request. All the moving parts within the lock chamber - bolts, levers etc - were checked for excessive wear, greased and replaced where necessary. The result of all of the above is, a once new safe returned to its former glory and ready to give its owner years of protection.
All safes that feature in our refurbished sales section will have gone through this overhaul process so you can be sure if you purchase a second user safe from us, it will be as good as new.
